counselling centres and other locations, ironworker champions addressing groups in schools
This toolkit was developed to help Ironworker champions give Aboriginal youth a clear picture of opportunities in the trade. It prepares champions to make presentations, and provides them with informational and promotional materials to distribute to youth. The toolkit offers tips to sharpen skills and anticipate problems, speaker’s notes, frequently asked questions, profiles of Aboriginal Ironworkers, and contact information for additional resources.
Ironworker champions are experienced ironworkers who volunteer to meet with young people in Aboriginal communities and present ironworking as a promising career. The champions may be retired ironworkers, apprentices, journeypersons, foremen or instructors.
